West Michigan’s newest dance company is seeking dance artists with strong modern dance technique and an interest in contributing to creative processes for their second season! Company members are paid a monthly stipend plus performance stipends. Opportunities to teach and choreograph are also available.

About Dance PlayHouse
Dance PlayHouse is a collaborative community of dance artists focused on creating and learning together in a shared space. Artistic Director, Kelsey Lee, founded Dance PlayHouse in 2024 to expand opportunities to experience dance, movement, and storytelling along the Lakeshore. As a nonprofit organization, we remove financial barriers to seeing professional dance by offering free and pay-what-you-will performances. Our creative process focuses on interdisciplinary experimentation to create thought-provoking choreography for stage performances, site-specific works, and art installations.

We meet once a week for 3 hours from September 2025-April 2026 in Grand Haven, MI. Our rehearsals start with company class for 1.5 hours, and consist of contemporary/modern technique led by the artistic director or a company member. We meet one day a week depending on dancer availability.
Pay: $60-$250 monthly stipend + $25-$100 per performance

In-person audition
The in-person audition will be held at our regular rehearsal space in the Acacia Theatre in Grand Haven. It will be formatted like a typical company class taught by the artistic director. Dancers should fill out the audition form prior to the audition.

Virtual audition
Those auditioning virtually have until May 31st to send materials which includes a headshot, resume/CV, and a 1-5 minute video of you dancing (can be from an improv, performance, or class). 
When: Now- May 31, 2025

*Dancers must be at least 18 years old to audition
*Both in-person and virtual auditions will be followed up with an informal phone or Zoom interview with the artistic director
*Dancers will be notified of their acceptance into the company no later than June 7th, 2025
